The Hostible isn't that scary!

Breena had her out patient dental work done this morning. She couldn't have anything to eat or drink after midnight. Remember her appointment was at 10:45. I got her up for one last drink, that was an experience. She really can sleep deeply. She got up around 1 a.m. So I got up with her, we layed on the couch together and watched Meet the Robinson's. She stayed awake for the entire show, then went back to bed. She slept in until almost 10 a.m. The first thing out of her mouth is "I'm hungry" I am so glad she didn't get up early. When we arrived at the hospital she claimed it wasn't as scary as she thought. All she has been talking about is not wanting a shot in her tongue. They had her change into the cutest kiddie jammies. They reminded me of the ones she wore when she had tubes put in her ears at 16 months. We colored and talked until they were ready for her, the doctor, nurse, and anesthesiologist all explained what would happen, she walked away with them calmly. When she returned I had prepped for the worst, little kids sometimes have a hard time coming out of the anesthesia, when she was 16 months she cried, whined, wiggled, hit, and was completely inconsolable. They brought her in, she was sleeping, then she opened her eyes, smiled and went back to sleep. She was an angel the entire time. She colored and talked to me. She had an iv in her foot because they couldn't get the vein in her hand to work, her adorable face was swollen, and her lips were nice and plump. The neighboring boys family wasn't so fortunate, I don't know how old he was but he sounded about Trever's age. He was yelling, screaming, throwing, calling everyone on the room all sorts of inappropriate names, and threatening to hurt and kill. Breena would look at me with big eyes and say that wasn't nice. I am so glad things went well, and expensive lesson to learn on flossing.

Look at the 2 monies in my mouth!

Well we are back to the dentist again! What are the odds I would forget my camera 4 times now? (Don't answer if you know me.) Cody finished up his dental work this week, he had one more cavity to be filled. He took the sedation better this time in the sense of not trying to fight it and move around, get up, and walk. We experienced the down side of sedation when it was wearing off, holy basket case! Everything made him cry, hysterically. It was pretty cute though, last night he came up to me and said " Hey mom, look at the two monies in my mouth" I laughed so hard, it never would have ever crossed my mind to think of them as monies. Breena has her stint with the dentist tomorrow, she need a couple pulpotimies (mini root canals) so they decided to fully sedate her. Its off to the out patient surgery center for her. She cannot eat or drink anything after midnight tonight. I still don't have a game plan for this in the morning. Usually their appointments are right after they wake up so you can sort of let them sleep in, take them to the car in their jammies and jet to the doctor. her appointment is at 10:45. Her stomach is definitely going to say "I'm hungry"
The last few weeks have been crazy. It got really busy at work, I didn't expect this since they are doing major lay offs, and the lines have gone to 4-10's. I feel like I am missing a few days.

Dental Fun Part 2

Well today we were back at the Dentist! It was Cody's turn. I expected some similarites between Trever and Cody. I was wrong. Cody took and instant effect to his meds. He sat in a daze staring off to who knows where. He had a funny sort of grin on his face. Every so often he would sort of laugh. He was so limp. He couldn't raise his head. They had us in a room with big bean bags. he would lay there and watch Charlotte's Web. He had a delayed laugh for everything. it was so fun to watch him try to laugh. He sat rather well through his procedure. he was halucenating (which I was told to expect) he kept grabbing at the air and mumbling. He really stayed rather calm. Now is the fun part. his procedure didn't take as long as Trevers, so the effects of his meds are still lingering. He is so out going and independant it's hard for him to understand that he just can't do it on his own yet. He get dizzy everytime he tries to stand. It's like a new born all over, that is what i am all over him trying to get him to not hurt himself. All in all I am impressed with how smoothly things went.

Dental Fun

Today was so much fun~ Trever had his first fix it visit to the dentist. They gave him an oral sedation along with laughing gas! he was so cute. At first he got really hyper. I thought the medcine wasn't going to work, but after an hour he finally cracked. He layed on the table with a thumbs up during the entire procedure. he tried a few time to pull the clamp from his mouth because he had something very important to say. Finally Dr. let him remove it. Trever looks at him and says (in a groggy sort of intoxicated way) "Dr. Doug you are the BEST Dentist EVER" I could hardly hold back my laugh. He was so serious and genuine. I guess the gas was sort of a truth searum. He was very tender and kind. later on during a rest period Trever once again removed the clamp and asked me to tickle his feet. Yes for those who wondered I did. He had 2 teeth pulled. One was really infected and the other needed out so to make room in his small mouth. The rest of the visit was uneventful. we however did discover he has an amazing memory. He won that game hands down. by the end of the day he was up and running! What a champ. I am so proud of him
